Weekend Highlights: Key Developments in Gaming and Sports Integrity
Welcome to this edition of the Weekend Report, where we bring you essential updates you might have overlooked in the past week. This round-up includes significant moves by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), a leadership change at the International Centre for Responsible Gaming (ICRG), and licensing successes for TaDa Gaming.
ITIA Suspends Dominican Players Amid Integrity Concerns
In a noteworthy move, the ITIA has provisionally suspended two Dominican Republic tennis players due to allegations of corruption. Jossting Cruz, aged 19, and 24-year-old Jasel Beltre have been inactive since May 30, 2023, awaiting the outcome of charges under the Tennis Anti-Corruption Programme (TACP).
The ITIA’s decision stems from indications that both players may have committed serious offenses. Cruz once peaked at a career ITF singles ranking of 2,318, while Beltre currently holds no ranking. Both have chosen not to challenge their suspensions.
New Leadership at ICRG
In more news, the ICRG has announced the appointment of Michael Soll as its new president. Soll, set to take over on July 7, brings nearly three decades of experience in the gaming sector and has served on the ICRG board since 2022. He will succeed Arthur Paikowsky, who has been at the helm since late 2021.
Before his presidency, Soll was president of The Innovation Group, a research and advisory firm, and held various strategic roles at renowned companies like Hard Rock International and Caesars Entertainment.
TaDa Gaming Secures UK License
TaDa Gaming has gained a significant foothold in the UK market by acquiring a license from the Gambling Commission. This license allows the company to partner with licensed operators and launch new gaming content, including titles like Fortune Coins and Jackpot Joker, at the iGB L!VE event scheduled for July 2025.
“Establishing a presence in the UK is a strategic priority,” said Ray Lee, TaDa’s Director of Business Development. The company aims to tailor its offerings for local audiences, following successful releases in regions like the U.S. and Brazil.
SIS Extends Partnership with Greyhound Racing Ireland
In partnership news, Sports Information Services (SIS) has prolonged its collaboration with Greyhound Racing Ireland. This multi-year deal will enable SIS to broadcast over 500 races monthly from some of Ireland’s top tracks, promising operators access to more than 24,000 live races annually.
Paul Witten, SIS’s EMEA Managing Director, noted that Irish greyhound racing has become integral for operators worldwide, emphasizing the quality of events featured.
