Evoke-Owned 888 to Reestablish Presence in Dutch Market with ComeOn Group

ComeOn Group to Revive 888.nl for Dutch Online Gamblers

In a pivotal move, ComeOn Group will take charge of the 888.nl brand, enabling it to provide a blend of online casino experiences and sports betting for players in the Netherlands.

New Partnership Breeds Excitement

A recent collaboration between Evoke and ComeOn Group marks a significant shift, allowing the iconic 888 brand to make a comeback in the Dutch online gambling landscape. Under this new agreement, ComeOn Group will manage 888.nl, leveraging a local license to deliver both casino and sports betting options tailored specifically for Dutch gamers.

The online casino will feature an extensive collection of slot games, unique titles, and live casino offerings. Meanwhile, the sportsbook will cater to sports enthusiasts with diverse betting opportunities.

Evoke’s Director of Corporate Development, Davide Marchisio, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The strength of the 888 brand globally is undeniable. This partnership allows us to extend the remarkable 888 experience to our Dutch audience.” He emphasized the strategic nature of this low-capital collaboration, which aligns with Evoke’s vision for expansion in regulated markets.

Juergen Reutter, CEO of ComeOn Group, shared his sentiments as well: “We view Evoke as a leading force in the betting and gaming sector. We’re honored to oversee the 888 operations, bringing our technological expertise and dedication to responsible gaming to the forefront for Dutch players.”

888’s Comeback After Nearly Four Years

ComeOn’s partnership heralds the return of 888 to the Netherlands after a lengthy hiatus of almost four years. In October 2021, 888 started blocking Dutch players amidst the rollout of the country’s regulated online gambling market, which officially launched on October 1, 2021.

Prior to its withdrawal, 888 had enjoyed a solid presence in the Netherlands, contributing around 3% to its overall revenue. However, regulatory changes prompted several operators to exit the market, with LiveScore Bet, one of the early entrants, also announcing its departure in late 2024.

The Dutch gambling market has faced turbulence due to escalating tax rates. As of January this year, the tax on gross gaming revenue surged from 30.5% to 34.2%, with projections indicating further increases to 37.8% next year.

Optimistic Outlook for Evoke

This strategic alliance arrives on the heels of Evoke’s latest trading updates, which predict a 5% year-on-year rise in revenue for Q2. The online segment is expected to be a key driver for growth, reflecting a 6% increase, while the retail sector has also regained momentum in the same timeframe. Overall, group revenues are anticipated to rise by 3% compared to last year for the first half of the year.

With this promising partnership, the future looks bright for the 888 brand as it reintegrates into the Dutch market, fostering growth and delivering an exceptional gaming experience to its users.
