Lithuania’s Revenue Increases 13% in H1 Fueled by Land-Based and Online Growth

Gambling Revenue in Lithuania Surges 13.4% in First Half of 2025, Total Expenditure Hits €2.3 Billion

Gambling activity in Lithuania has experienced a robust upswing in the first half of 2025, with overall revenue increasing by 13.4% compared to the previous year. Both online and brick-and-mortar gaming sectors have contributed to this growth.

During the first six months leading up to June 30, total market revenue reached €131.5 million (approximately $153.1 million), improving from €116.0 million in H1 2024. Players collectively spent a staggering €2.30 billion in the same timeframe.

Online Gaming Wagers Exceed €2 Billion

Diving deeper into the online segment, the Lithuania Gaming Control Authority has reported that online gambling revenue soared to €96.1 million, reflecting an 18.2% increase. Total online wagers rose by 16.8%, surpassing €2.08 billion.

One standout performer has been Category A online slots—games that allow for unlimited winnings—generating the highest revenue at €64.4 million, marking a 20.4% rise. Player engagement with these slots also grew by 21.4%, reaching €1.51 billion.

In contrast, revenue from Category B online slots, which have stricter limitations on stake and payout, fell sharply by 34% to €1.2 million during this period.

Additionally, the remote sports betting sector witnessed a revenue increase of 10.5%, totaling €21.3 million, with wagers seeing a 4.3% rise to €301.3 million. Online table games also experienced a notable surge, with revenue escalating by 36.4% to reach €9.2 million and player spending increasing by 11.6% to €257.4 million.

Growth in Land-Based Gambling Revenue

On the land-based side, revenue climbed by 2.2% year-on-year, totaling €35.4 million, even as the number of active operators shrank to nine due to market exits.

Category B slot machines remained a key revenue driver, accumulating €14.8 million, a 2.8% uptick. Wagering on these machines also rose by 4.8%. Meanwhile, revenue from Category A terminals slightly increased by 2.5%, climbing to €8.1 million.

Conversely, the land-based table games segment saw a decline, with revenue dropping by 5% to €7.6 million due to decreased player spending. Sports betting revenue, however, increased by 11.6% to €4.8 million despite an overall reduction in consumer expenditure.

Lottery Revenue Surges to €36.7 Million

In related news, the lottery market in Lithuania also saw positive momentum. Revenue rose by 10.6% to €36.7 million in the first half of 2025. Ticket sales were up by 8.2%, reaching 54.5 million, while total ticket turnover surged by 14.1% to €80.8 million. Players benefitted from lottery winnings, totaling €44.6 million, a jump of 17.1%.

In summary, Lithuania’s gambling landscape is thriving, marked by significant increases in both online and traditional sectors, revealing a dynamic and evolving market.
