Tennessee Sports Betting Volume Falls to 10-Month Low in June

Tennessee’s Sports Betting Handle Sees Notable Decrease in June

In June, Tennessee experienced a significant dip in its gross sports betting handle, falling to its lowest level since August 2024. Despite this decline, the state managed to record a modest year-on-year increase.

The total gross handle for the month reached $350.9 million, as reported by the Tennessee Wagering Council. This figure reflects a 2.5% increase from the same month last year, though it represents a marked decrease of 19.8% compared to the impressive $437.5 million reported in May.

The last time gross handle figures dropped this low was in August 2024, when it stood at $342 million. After accounting for $1.5 million in undisclosed adjustments, the total gross wagers for June were slightly higher at $352.5 million. This amount, while still 20% less than May 2025’s total, also exceeded last year’s numbers by 2.2%.

One significant aspect to consider is that Tennessee has not released sports betting revenue figures since July 2023, making it impossible to accurately assess the hold. Nevertheless, it was disclosed that tax revenue from sports betting in June amounted to $6.5 million. The state uniquely bases its tax rate on the total handle, distinguishing it from other states in the U.S.

Currently, eleven online sportsbooks are licensed to operate within Tennessee, featuring well-known platforms such as FanDuel, DraftKings, Fanatics, ESPN Bet, BetMGM, Caesars, Bally Bet, and Hard Rock Bet.
