Satoshi Gaming Prohibited in Sweden for Operating Without a License

Swedish Regulatory Authority Targets Satoshi Gaming Group for Unauthorized Online Operations

In a recent announcement on April 10, Swedish regulatory body Spelinspektionen has placed an immediate ban on Satoshi Gaming Group, marking a significant move against unlicensed online gambling activities. The ruling stems from the operator’s failure to secure the necessary licensing to offer gambling services within Sweden’s jurisdiction.

The focus of this decision is largely tied to Trustdice.win, a gambling site operated by Satoshi Gaming under a license from Curaçao. Spelinspektionen’s investigation revealed that the platform not only allowed Swedish players to access and register accounts but also tailored its content for the local market, featuring terms and conditions in Swedish and utilizing Swedish-language marketing through affiliate partners.

Regulatory Scrutiny Intensifies

Following an initial claim from Satoshi Gaming in February that it had restricted access to Swedish players, further inquiry by Spelinspektionen found inconsistencies. While the site appeared blocked from the regulator’s IP address, independent investigations showed that it remained accessible from alternative locations. This discrepancy highlighted the operator’s ineffective compliance measures.

In response, Satoshi Gaming expressed its intention to enhance barriers against Swedish player access, pledging to eliminate any remaining Swedish language content from the Trustdice.win site. However, the regulator observed that no timeline for these changes had been disclosed.

Considerations Behind the Ruling

Spelinspektionen assessed multiple factors in determining the extent of Satoshi Gaming’s breach of the Swedish Gambling Act. Central to this analysis was the intention behind the website’s design—specifically, its accessibility to Swedish users and the presence of localized content.

Given that Trustdice.win met these criteria, the regulator concluded that Satoshi Gaming was indeed contravening Swedish gambling regulations. Compounding their findings, it became clear that even after committing to withdraw from the Swedish market, the operator continued its activities without interruption.

Immediate Action Required

In light of these findings, Spelinspektionen has emphasized the necessity of immediate compliance with the ban to protect consumers and maintain gaming integrity. The regulator stated, “Swift enforcement is crucial to ensure consumer safety and uphold regulatory standards. Consequently, the order is effective without delay.”

This ruling serves as a reminder of the stringent measures imposed by Swedish authorities on operators that fail to adhere to local gaming laws, reinforcing the importance of compliance within the rapidly evolving online gambling landscape.
